Gender
This
week for my family Relations class we discussed gender and homosexual relationships.
I learned things I didn’t understand before. Being a heterosexual male and always
being that way. I don’t think I can ever know what it’s like to have same gender
attraction. Diving deeper inside I understand it’s not about what’s I feel is wrong
or right about it. Its about the person. Gay people are people and should be
treated as such. They struggle with some the hardest things a person can encounter.
A wounded gender ID, sexual abuse, bullying, and parental connections are few
things yet encounter early in their life. I acknowledge there is so much, sensitivity around
sexual orientation, but I don’t understand why? If you desire a same sex attraction
life so be it. If someone wants to change and I do believe change is possible
then someone should be able to seek guidance with that. To say some is born
that way is just wrong. It takes away our ability to choose and, in this matter,
I believe there is always a choice. There’s no concrete evidence that I have
seen or read that made me think otherwise. I am a religious man and being so I
know that my Savior is bigger than anything we can face in this world. He provides us with a way to overcome this
world. Agency, repentance, and atonement a few words I have learned much about
my years as a Christian. They give us power, because of Jesus Christ. Learning more
about people with same gender attraction made me soften my heart towards them. They’re
three times more likely to have depression, three times more likely to commit suicide,
and abuse drugs. When I heard that I thought that was sad, that life would get
so heavy for someone they just want to escape from it. All people should be
able to find the happiness this life can give. Any way I, do wish the best for
anyone that is taking on the struggles and pain of finding themselves in this
world.
The
conversation this week on gender was interesting. Most of the professors that I
have had confess to how androgynous there approach the life is. Thinking on
this I realize there’s an important aspect to understand both genders. There are
skills I think everyone individual should have. Such as I think everyone should
understand how to nurture to some degree. And most people would consider that a
feminine trait. Also, it would be important to know how to be aggressive. Which
would be masculine train. However, even if acquiring such skills. In a family,
child should be entitled to a mother and a father. Father don’t replace Mother
and Mothers don’t replace fathers. There are just things that are better done
by each gender. I know that God himself supports that. I would be fool to deny his
council on this. I am still polishing up my understand of the topics we
discussed this week. I’m still very much learning how to polish up the way, I
talk about gender and homosexuality. For all those that read what I have to say.
I would love to hear your experience and your input to maybe views, I never thought
of. I am very open to take correction and would love the improvement. The
things I learning this week are very sensitive topics. I get that. I hope will
take the time to share a point of view with me. Until next time I hope all is
well in your lives and your families are healthy.
